Built up roofs consist of a base sheet fabric reinforcement layers and usually a dark protective. This causes the concrete to maintain a lower surface temperature resulting in less energy needed to cool buildings and less energy consumed by nighttime lighting not to mention reducing the heat island effect found on many asphalt parking lots in the summer. Slabs are precision fit with a consistent thickness and a slip resistant finish.
