The problem is not the water coming down the problem is the sound.

But there are ways you can quiet a noisy downspout.
The water pouring onto your roof creates a soothing white noise that clears your mind and calms your soul.
It is however not an appropriate solution where heavy rainfall occurs.
Placing a piece of sponge or artificial turf in the bottom of a downspout will absorb drips and reduce noise.
Angling the ends of your downspouts further away from the house will help water flow seamlessly down without dripping and splashing.
That is until your gutters and downspouts join in.
If you have metal downspouts and they drive you crazy when it rains you might think that there is nothing you can do about it.
This can be achieved by putting a scrubber sponge a square of artificial turf a section of shingle or a foam downspout insert into the bottom of the downspout opening.
The downspout makes a sound when water drips down inside.
It makes noise lots of it.
